High Build Epoxy Primer Kit

HP77X Series

This 1:1 Two-part, high-solids epoxy primer is an ideal coat under high-gloss urethane topcoats to maximize adhesion, improve gloss, and aid in gloss retention. We say improves gloss and aides in gloss as epoxies once topcoated too soon tends to cause dye back issues.
This epoxy will not have those issues. Dries quickly for faster overcoating, easy to sand once cured, (in as little as 3 hours above 70) and provides excellent corrosion control.
The Surfacing
primer formula is ideal for easy sanding, very high build uses on all substrates. Ideal for a underwater marine primer, but not solely intended for marine use
. This epoxy can be used on ANY substrate. The 770 series epoxy unlike our HP660 series epoxy is solely Direct to rust! 3 coats of this epoxy is all the protection you need against rust!
Our 660 series epoxy was always a “sealer” coat epoxy. Never intended for build, you always needed to use our 53xx primer over it (at least 12 hours later) for the build and sandable properties. You no longer need to do that with this unique epoxy.

You now have a new option!

If you want a high build, quick sanding, non shrinking epoxy. Consider the 770 series epoxy

1. Thoroughly Shake Part A & B (shaker or drill). (Skipping this step will result in epoxy not curing/ drying)
2. Thoroughly Mix Part A & B together.
(Skipping this step will result in epoxy not curing/ drying)
3. Induction is 30-45 minutes minimum
4. Do not reduce until after induction time
(Skipping this step will result in epoxy not curing/ drying)

Tip Size - 2.5

Estimate shipping

Tamco Paint's shipping fees are "real time rates" meaning, we charge you what it costs to ship depending on what you ordered and where it is shipping. That said, we offer free shipping to the lower 48 states in the USA if your order is $500+!

Please keep in mind, we DO NOT guarantee delivery transit times. The shipping companies include "Estimated Delivery Times" which are estimates and should be treated as such. Also Tamco Paint will NOT refund for late deliveries, delayed transit, or any other wait due to the shipping and handling involved.

If you forgot an item, we will not ship the rest for free. Send us a message on our on-site Chat by clicking the chat bubble in the bottom right to add onto your order. We usually can help make that happen if your order hasn't been packaged up yet.

Under normal circumstances, ship the next day (M-F , some holidays change this as well). If you order early AM or early afternoon, we will most likely be able to get your order out that day! CALL for order changes!! (please note we do not ship the next day for mixed paint.)

We use Fedex & UPS and USPS (for non-hazardous products). Orders that reach "Free shipping" will be chosen by Tamco Paint.

Read the spec sheet

I made the mistake of not reading the spec sheet. I mixed it and let it sit too long. Unlike, my normal epoxy primer, you cannot mix it and come back in a couple hours because it will have set up. I'm sure the product is awesome like the rest of Tamco products. Just read the spec sheet, don't ruin a can like I did

Chat apparently dead. The info on HH1504 says "all enamels", I'm assuming this includes acrylic ena
Jury is still out

I ordered the 772 high build primer kit. This week was the first time I tried it. I had a prepped with 180 grit; door mounted vertically on a stand in spray booth so I could spray both sides. Temperature was in the low 90's and humidity in the 60's. 1 to 1 mix after shaking the primer can for a few minutes. One note, I hate the round top for the hardener, should have been a top with pour spout like the reducer one gallon cans have.
Induction time was 35 minutes. My first time is very strange, I used a 1.8 nozzle at 20 psi for the gun I was using, a devilbiss CVI. So glad I did not use regular primer gun with 2.2 tip as the material went on smooth then flowed down like a water fall. I let it set for 24 hours and then started sanding with 120 grit paper to get all the runs out. It did sand ok. I'm going cut way back on spray material and reduce spray pressure to 18 lbs. Lay the door on it's side and just spray the outside portion and will see how that does. Never had a high build primer act this way, may just be a learning curve with this.
