Jeff Shaffer and his team at Shaffer Restorations brought a 1965 Fastback Mustang back to life with a flawless, factory-inspired finish in Ford Code 5/1731 Twilight Turquoise. This classic mid-60s blue-green hue perfectly complements the Mustang’s iconic body lines, creating a timeless look that blends vintage style with modern shine.
The ground-up process began with HR397W Waterbourne Wax & Grease Remover and HR398 Final Wipe to prepare the surface and ensure a contaminant-free foundation. HP5310 Grey DTM (Direct to Metal) Primer Kit was then applied for maximum adhesion and corrosion protection, followed by Forever Seal to lock everything in and create a uniform base.
Next came Ford Code 5/1731 Twilight Turquoise, reduced with HR Reducer for a smooth and even application that captured the original color’s richness. To complete the look, HC2104 High Solids Clearcoat was used, adding depth, gloss, and long-lasting protection to this classic build.
This Mustang is a true showcase of expert craftsmanship and premium products, delivering a restoration finish that looks just as stunning today as it did in 1965.
