It has been a long journey for David and Steven Smith to have their vision came into reality. We must say that this build is one of the builds that will marks their legacy in their respective crafts and talents. This Meyers Manx underwent into a total makeover combining the skills and expertise of The Smith Brothers. Sharing their talent together, Winnie The Manx has been built — a build that is worth eyeing for.
The Smith Brothers, began with a genuine pre-tag Meyers Manx fiberglass body — personally certified by Bruce and Winnie Meyers — and transformed it into a stunning tribute build mounted on a shortened 1972 VW Beetle IRS chassis.
Steven took charge of the mechanical work, while David focused on the fiberglass restoration and finishing. He carefully repaired the original early Manx tub, applied Ultra Light Weight Filler and painstakingly hand-blocked the surface to perfection. Starting the transformation with HP5310 Grey DTM (Direct to Metal) Primer Kit, creating an ultra-smooth substrate, followed by HP5312 White DTM (Direct to Metal) Primer Kit to maximize brightness and depth beneath the color. With the surface fully prepped, David sprayed Sunsation Yellow as a basecoat — a vivid custom color that will sure make turn heads. The finish was sealed with HC2104 High Solids Clearcoat Kit, delivering rich gloss, lasting durability, and UV protection.
Attention to detail continued underneath. The chassis and underbody were coated in HB Chassis Black Single Stage Kit for strong rust protection and a clean, professional appearance. The engine bay and underhood were finished in Underhood Satin Black Single Stage Kit, delivering a clean, crisp, and detailed appearance.
